I would like to learn many languages because I travel often. Cantonese in particular because it should have been native tongue, but I have lost that language as a child.
I can understand a few words when spoken to me, and am familiar with some Chinese customs and mannerisms having grown up in a Chinese-Canad ian family.
Co nversation, grammar and later on, perhaps even reading and writing.
I have a 9-5 weekday job, so I can meet weeknights and weekends. I will be more available starting in January 2010.
Qual ities that I'm looking for in a teacher... patience (!), easy-going, does have a rough curriculum in mind, and preferably has had previous experiences in tutoring.

As a recent retiree and looking for interesting things to do with all this new found time thought it might be not only interesting but fun to learn Gaelic.
I have heard Gaelic on Scottish television programs or on CDs but have never spoken a word myself and would therefore be most defintely a beginner.
Would be interested in either classroom studies and / or with internet and telephone sessions.

I have a basic knowledge of Arabic letters and very elementary grammar. I am very motivated and wish to learn modern standard Arabic as well as Qur'anic Arabic. I can read arabic with the vowels and have a basic vocabularly. Thus I am not a complete beginner but I am not intermediate either.
