I am an intermediate reader and a lower intermediate speaker. I have studied four years of Arabic in America, but am rusty. I need to raise my level of Arabic so that I can do my research. I am a doctoral student in the US studying environmental history of the southeastern Gulf states.
I would like to spend about 4 hours a day in lessons for 4 weeks this summer 2008.
I am looking for a teacher who can help me create a specialized vocabulary based on documents and the environment. I would like to emphasize reading comprehension and vocabulary building. I would also like to emphasize my speaking skills. I have studied the Levantine dialect, but I would like to learn Gulf Arabic as well.

I have taken, but not completed, one elementary Arabic course. I am learning to expand employment possibilities . I have a good understanding of the alphabet, but lack vocabulary and grammatical knowledge. I wish to dedicate several hours per week for lessons, and 1 to 3 hours each day for practice.
