I shall be working international ly and feel that French is a more usable language to be competent with.
I have at teh very est a few words of French that would make the most tolerant of frenchmen cringe if they were to here me attmept to pronounce these snippets.
Improvements would not be difficult; Grammar, Pronunciation , Retention.
I tend to use the languages that I am attempting to learn during the day and when ever I am speaking. As much as I can during the day.
Quali ties that my instructor would need are patince and empathy. I have worked overseas and have been stymied by my lack of communication skills level. I am now exceptionally tolerant of people that have difficulty with English; particularly the Australian varient of English that we tend to use here in Australia. A sense of humour would no doubt also be of value, especially a dark, oblique sense of humour; or at least a tolerance of a dark, oblique sense of humour

I am wanting to learn Chinese Mandarin to enable me to communicate in China where I am establishing a factory.
I am a beginner with a little ability in Putonghua. I can say a very few phrases and words but need to speak and understand conversationa l Mandarin for business and pleasure.
I would dedicate an hour every 2 days when I am in Australia, but I have my son with me every two weeks for two weeks, so daytime would suit, then I would look at an hour per day perhaps. I travel often to China, having just come back from four weeks there, I have been there about 10-15 times over the past 2 years.
I am looking for a teacher who has a love of the language and who has the ability to make it easy and fun to learn and remember.
