I wish to learn chinese and vietnamese because I have been practicing gongfu for over ten years with a vietnamese teacher and have started to learn traditional chinese medecine.
I have always been drawn to asian culture, and I believe that knowing the language is a big part of understanding a culture!
I am a beginner, have tried a book with cd method, and Mandarin beginner 10 lessons las fall.
I wish to be able to speak and read, will find time for weekly classes, and am ready for doing so over the next few years.

Hello,
I have long been interested in the languages and cultures of the Scandinavian regions. I would love to gain a strong understanding of the language as well as being able to use it in possible conversation. I don't imagine I would be hard to teach. I have learned French, Hebrew, yiddish, and some Spanish (Yiddish i picked up by listening to my parents). I want to learn Norwegian, because I think it sounds lovely and I've heard its easier to go from Norwegian to Swedish and Danish than either of the other ways around.

I'm planning on traveling to China this summer (around May 2010) and need help on learning Mandarin (one of the reasons I'm going there, I'll be taking additional classes once I'm in China).
Both my parents speak Mandarin and I understand most of their conversations , I've also taken beginner classes for 5 years when I was younger (but I never took them seriously, since my parents had forced me to). I'm still at a beginner level, as I do not know how to read or write. As for speaking, I mostly need help on my pronunciation and conversation skills.
I' m willing to start my lessons right away, maybe 2 to 4 hours a week, depending on the cost per hour, and preferably, I'd like to meet the teacher during the week and somewhere downtown Montreal, if that's not possible then we can meet at house.
