My proficiency level in Cantonese is practically non-existant. I can say 'good morning' 'How are you?' & 'Happy New Year.' That is all.
I wish to learn Cantonese because I am marrying into a family whose exteneded family & friends primary language is Cantonese. I would like to converse with them & understand them as well.
I am willing to dedicated many hours to studying and practicing the language. I am hoping for lessons once or twice a week.
The qualities I would look for in a teacher is clear understanding of both Cantonese and English. Someone who is truly passionate about teaching and the language and who is willing to explain things in some detail. I would need someone patient and flexible in lessons. Someone not overly expensive if possible.
