I took Spanish one at Kennesaw State last year. I want to learn Spanish because I love the culture. I am planning a trip to Spain next year and would like to be as prepared as possible. I need help in all areas at this point. I would like to spend at least two times a week and at least 6 hours a week studying. I work during the day so nights and weekends are best for me. I have been studying French for 8 years now and have studied in Paris at L'Institut Catholique de Paris, where I am classified as advanced in their international student program. I majored in French in college and just graduated in May. I have been told I am considered fluent, however, I need to practice what I have already learned and I recognize that there is still plenty to learn. I do eventually want to be able to use French in a completely professional environment as well. I would only want to work on French for an hour a week.
I have been studying Mandarin Chinese for two years. I started it in college with the idea of potentially using it in business. I was able to complete the minor in college because it came quickly to me and I studied in China for a month, so I was able to skip the entire second year and take third year. My college professor says I am at a level where I can say anything I want, it is just sometimes awkward. I would say I am between beginner and intermediate. I would like to devote a few hours a week to Chinese, as I have much more to learn. I also want to continue reading and writing simplified characters, and I recognize that knowing traditional is also helpful (I have studied both).
As far as teachers, I would want someone who would be willing to encourage me and listen to my concerns. I know my level very well and I know what I am best at doing. I am a self-motivato r and do not need to be pushed to learn, just encouraged. I also want someone who will correct me regularly with all my mistakes because that is how I learn. I enjoy energetic people and I am serious about my studying.

I feel that I speak as a four year old child would in a fifty year old dialect from an area near Krk in the north of Croatia.
I can not read nor write Croatian.
My father was baorn there and I would like to visit Croatia again and be able to read and write a little of the language.
I don't care too much about my accent but want to be understood.
