I studied French previously from the ages of 15-22. By that time, I had reached an intermediate level of conversation and grammar. However, since it has been over 7 years since my last class, I feel I will need to go back and learn the basics as a refresher. I am also looking to study German (at the beginner level), both of these languages will be required in Graduate School for Art History which I plan to begin within the next year. I am looking for a teacher who is patient and places emphasis on conversation as well as grammar and translation. I am willing to dedicate 2 days per week for lessons, 3-5 hours per week. My name is Lindsey and I am an upcoming Senior at Clemson University. My parents live overseas in France right now, and I really want to learn French. I want to learn French much faster than the Clemson language program teaches it. I am trying to study very basic grammar and vocabulary right now, but I need more! I want to focus on conversation, so when I come visit my parents next summer, I will be able to meet friends and get around France by myself. I would like 1hr/week lessons, preferrably at night. I would be willing to drive to Greenville from Clemson, or we could meet half way. I am looking for a teacher who will be firm and challenging, with high expectations! I do not want a teacher who will allow me to slack off! I am committed and want to learn French!

I am a beginner/inte rmediate in French, and I've taken French courses at school for a few years already. Personally, I would like to learn/continu e learning French because I want to be able to go to France either as an exchange student or as a tourist. I believe French will take a role in my future plans/career as well, and it is a language I enjoy speaking thoroughly as well.
The areas that I believe I will need more work on is my conversation, listening and sight reading skills. I would prefer my lessons to be around an one hour or one and a half hours a week. I'm pretty flexible with my time, and I'm looking for a very cheerful, outgoing teacher who can furthur improve my French-speaki ng skills as well as my writing, and can teach me French through many different sources rather than from just a French textbook.
