I have studied english during 10 years at school in France but never really practiced it there. I left Paris for Montreal 5 years ago and I now work as an engineer for a Canadian company. My work brings me to write and talk in english and I consider I have quite a good level but that I have still problems to express easily everything I want to say. I just need to practice it orally in order to make it easy at work and for daylife conversation.
I'm looking for a teacher to talk with in order to increase my vocabulary and grammar skills.

I am between a beginner and an intermediate learner. I read and write a couple hundred characters and can speak and understand conversationa l mandarin. I want to bring my proficiency up to level 4 HSK by next year. Which means several hundred more characters and improved comprehension . I hope to eventually study advanced mandarin.
I completed a BLCU course in Beijing for beginners level B and spent several months in Hunan province in China, but I am already forgetting things since I came back to Canada.
I have taken courses in mandarin at U of T, Concordia University and a few language schools, but I only seems to maintain, not advance.

I am only a beginner.
I want to learn to speak and understand basic conversations in Chinese for two reasons.
1 ) I am currently working for a local textile company ( import division ) that deals with Chinese suppliers abroad. I want to improve my position and become a valuable asset to the company.
2 ) Most importantly I have a long distance relationship with my tawainese girlfriend . I have known her for about a year. I would want to have better communication s in her native language. She understands English but struggles to speak fluently. She plans to come to Canada in August 2007 for 6 months.
I can dedicate 1 hour every day after work hours ( after 5 pm ) from Monday - Wednesday & any time on Sundays.
T he qualities I look for from my teacher if she / he has the patience to help me learn basic Chinese
