My friend and I have spring break now and we are really interested on improving our vietnamese. We can both speak the language (I'm not so good).Neither of us can read or write ( which we wish to achieve).We both rather be taught in person. Our spring break is only for a week so we plan to learn all we can in this one week soooo please help us. thanks! I'm also interested in learning Chinese.

I am a musician in San Diego and play Brazilian music. I sing and speak Portugese. I am a native English speaker. I have spoken other languages in the past such as French and spanish after living in Europe for some time, however that was years ago and have forgotten those languages due to non-use. I have tried to learn at least a little of the language of countries where I have or expected to spend some time. I have been communicating for the last several months with a woman in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. I am expecting to go there in the near future to visit her. She speaks English, but I have found throughout my travels that having a working knowledge of the language of the country in which you visit is the key to success in meeting people and learning and showing respect for their culture. I also am fascinated with the Chinese langauage.
I am a fan of Chinese films and would love to learn how to read the calligraphy. I think it would be a great challenge that would result in great satisfaction if I could successfully learn.
I would like to dedicate whatever time it takes to see results, however the number of lesson hours would depend on cost.
I am looking for someone who can teach me how the language works so I can learn how to construct my own sentences and express my own ideas. Ofcourse I am a total beginner and realize I will need to learn basics first.

I'm a beginner and have never spoken or read the language. I am looking to learn Mandarin for career advancement. I need development in grammar and conversation as well as the culture, if possible. I would like to have an hour or two of study each week. I would like someone who has a flexible schedule and is good with beginners. I work about 50-60 hours during the week and sometimes weekends, but would be open to evening lessons and/or weekend lessons.
