I am interested in learning French for my own personal development. I have been studying at home using the Hugo French for Beginners book and CD. However, I seem to have trouble progressing past week 5, when the tasks become more challenging. I feel that I need help from a tutor to get through the challenges and be able to ask questions when I don't understand the content of the course. I am interested in having a one hour lesson each week.

I am 66 years of age. I wish to learn French as I will be having a six week vacation in France commencing late June. At a later date I may be living in France for greater lengths of time. I am a beginner, although I did French at school over 50 years ago and I was a poor student! I wish to be able to converse and possibly read. I can dedicate most evenings to studies and I can also attend day courses. I would require private lessons during the day. Reference qualities I am looking for in the lessons or in the teacher. Obviously a teacher who relates well to adults, has patience and a sense of humour.
