I want to learn how to read, write, speak, and understand Urdu. I am a teacher of English as a Second Language. As such, I am looking for a teacher who has experience teaching grammar and can provide me with a proper book for learning correct Urdu grammar. I know how language is learned, I know how it is taught, and I have successfully learned other languages in the past, up to the master's level. I am not looking for someone to teach me conversation only, although conversation is part of it. I am looking for someone with experience teaching grammar. In my experience, kind people who are native speakers do not have the same effectiveness as people who have experience teaching the mechanics of the language. I would prefer someone who has experience with adult beginners, but I would happily accept someone who teaches children. I am ready to seriously study this language with a serious teacher. Let's face it, we are all busy adults. I can realistically commit to one or possibly two hours of instruction per week through Skype. Meeting in person won't fit into my schedule. I promise to do my homework; either writing, memorizing vocabulary lists, etc. If you have a suitable book for instruction, I would reimburse you for having it scanned so it could be sent by email if I cannot locate this book here in NY. I would prefer a teacher who speaks Urdu as it is spoken in Pakistan. I don't make loads of money in my job; I make the going rate for my market and I would like to pay you the going rate for your market. Please contact me if you are interested and you have experience teaching grammar and you can find a suitable book for this. I would prefer a lady teacher, as I am a woman, but I am flexible on this point. Thanks for reading, and hope to hear from you!

- I would like to learn German, as well as Italian and Arabic.
- I have learned German for about half a year; I can read Arabic but my vocabulary and knowledge of grammar are limited; I have a limited knowledge of Italian vocabulary (mostly musical terms).
- I want to improve my knowledge in grammar, vocabulary for the indicated languages, and be able to speak fluently.
- I am a PhD student at Columbia University, so most probably I will be able to spend my evenings and weekends for learning languages, since I have a tough schedule during business week.
- I would like to study with an easy-going, open and friendly teacher with solid knowledge of the language (it would be great if he/she is a native speaker).
