I ma currently studying Japanese in order to be able to become a manga-ka in Japan.On June 2009 was the first time that I recieved any formal teaching.Befo re that,I had been trying to teach myself Japanese for around a year and a half.Truthful ly,I do not know at what leve I am on,since a lot of lessons were skipped with me when I had formal teaching.I do know the basics like sentence structure,cor rect usage of almost all particle,I also know verd cojugation,po tential for,and a lot of other things.
My main problem is that I don't know a lot of words.Basical ly,if you give me some words,and ask me to put them together in a sentence,I can do that,but I don't really have that many words memorized.I also need help with my conversation skills.I find that I have difficulty reading simple sentences out loud,and I don't know how to pronounce words properly.I know all hiragana,and almost all katakana,howe ver I do need a lot of help with kanji as well.
I don't know exactly how much free time I might have to be taught,since it all depends on what my mom can afford,and I will be busy with high school and I am trying to get my work submitted to a publisher too.However I am willing to see if I can work out a schedule for this,since it is very important to me.Most likely I can do weekend classes in the afternoon,and I hope to get as much homework as I possibly can so that I am able to learn more.
I would preffer to have a native Japanese teach me.I've had two teachers,one being a non-native Japanese,and the difference in the way they pronounced things was very clear to me.I think that a native Japanese would be more helpful to me in learning the language and culture more appropriately .

I am interested in learning German because I am planning a trip there fall of 2010. I would like to be proficient enough in the language to get around town and hold basic conversation. I am a beginner now, knowing only a handful of phrases, at best. I would like to dedicate several hours a week for the next year to learning German.
