I am trying to learn basic conversationa l Russian because I am moving to Kyrgyzstan after the new year for my husband's job. I would like to dedicate a few hours a week to language study- our move is coming fast and I know almost nothing!
My ideal teacher has experience teaching Russian to English speakers and has a plan that I can follow as well as a book or guide that I can use on my own. As a former ESL teacher myself, I know the importance of having a plan of instruction and good teaching materials.

As part of my undergraduate degree in International Development I spent a term (6 months) in Nairobi studying at USIU and working part-time at Mama Ngina Kenyatta Children's Home in South C. Since graduation in 2008 I have been living and working in Swaziland, but I can't fight the urge to come back to Kenya and ACTUALLY learn Kiswahili. I would like to do development work in East Africa as my career and I feel that proficiency in the language is necessary for building relationships with the people I'm working with and for my own personal reasons. I will be returning to Nairobi from August 2010 to July 2011 and I am looking for small-sized classes or a private tutor (2 lessons per week) so that I can become reasonably proficient in Kiswahili.

I would like to Learn Amharic so I can have a better relationship with my friend, while also creating something I can pass to my child. My proficiency level would be absolute beginner, and I would need to work on my grammar and pronunciation . I would like to dedicate at least two hours a week to my language lessons.
