I am a beginner student. I know the alphabet and most of the numbers, a few phrases. My husband is French/Tunisi an and speaks several languages, including Arabic. It's a beautiful language that I would like to learn to speak. I learn best with heavy emphasis on grammar. I could make enough time for a couple lessons per week. I need something very close to home, (San Francisco), and even better if the teacher could meet with me at my office (Potrero Hill neighborhood) .

I'm currently taking Japanese at Austin Community College. Japanese is my major and I'm hoping to transfer to a university in Japan to finish my degree. I curently reside in Germany, but will be in the U.S.A. in June for about 6 months to one year and will subsequently immigrate.
I wish to learn to speak the English language so that I may communicate effectively in everyday situations mainly where conversation is involved.
I speak a little English now and have been taking elementary lesson in Germany. There is no opportunity to practice speech except for a few hours per week in the classroom. The instruction is not intense and the teacher is not versed well in the English language. However, my friend residing in the States can provide me with practice.
My time will be fairly unlimited while in the States for schooling purposes.
The qualities I am seeking in a teacher and the lessons involved, are that they get to the point with lessons that have immediate practical application to everyday situations. I prefer someone with a great deal of patience and a warm, friendly personality.
