My proficiency level is beginner. I wish to learn Mandarin because I am currently in graduate school andwill be living in Nanjing, while attending Nanjing Universiy and completing my thesis. I would like to dedicate approximately four hours a week in contact time, plus additional study time to process the weekly lessons. My proficiency level is probably intermediate. I spent four months in Greece speaking the language best i could. I want to speak greek because i plan to move to Greece for a few years and want to be more prepared than I was on my latest trip. I feel I need improvement in grammar because everything I have learned thus far I have picked up off the streets. I am interested in the once a week program for 8 weeks. I may very well be adding more time at a later date. I am interested in someone who can give me lots of language exercises for study and someone who explains themselves well.

I am a complete beginner. I have little experience with Chinese, but have began some Chinese study this semester. I am a high school student looking to learn some of the language before I go to college so that I might score higher on the language placement test which would save me time and money (since I plan on minoring in Chinese). I have no time after school, so would need a tutor to come to my school either every day or every other day during my free class (9-10:45 am). Price is no issue, so gas money, time and effort, although they factor into the equation, will be paid for. In a teacher, I look for someone who can apply real life language, not text book language. Obviously it's necessary to learn the rules of grammar and usage, but learning the 'street' language along with the culture is a must. Innovative teaching methods are truly welcome. Above all, I want to have fun in learning a language with Chinese being no exception.
