I am a university professor doing research on the history of Perak and West Malaysia, and I visit Ipoh annually for work. My study of Bahasa Malayu has been mostly informal, and I have an intermediate knowledge of grammar. My wish is to be able to speak Malay with the people I meet and to read newspapers. University students have helped me, but they lack teaching skills. Weekly or bi-weekly tutoring sessions via Skype with more frequent face-to-face classes when I am in Ipoh or Kuala Lumpur would help me greatly. I need practice speaking, expansion of vocabulary, and a better sense of appropriate forms.

My name is Nathan. I am 26 years old and live in the midwest. I have taken some Spanish classes but it has been a couple of years since the last one. I am interested in studying the Spanish language with a goal of becoming fluent enough to pass a college language proficiency exam. I am looking for a Language teacher who is willing to teach me Japanese. I want to learn Japanese for multiple reasons. I want to learn it for career advancement, I understand that it is beneficial to be able to speak more than one language in America and the other reason why I want to learn Japanese is because I want to participate in one of the Exchange Teacher programs where I go to Japan to teach English for a year or more. When I did this I would love to be fluent in the language before I applied to one of theses programs so improve my chances of being accepted and so that I can speak, read, and write before I get to Japan. Right now my proficiency level is beginner. I would love to be able to have lessons twice a week but once is OK. I would prefer a teacher that is a native speaker of the Japanese language.
