I have been interested in becoming multilingual for both personal and professional reasons. My introduction to Spanish was high school along with a few classes and CD's over the past couple of years. I need to improve my written and verbal skills. I thrive in challenging and fun learning environments. My name is John Holloway. I am a first year student currently studying at the University of Alberta. I wish to learn two languages fluently by the time I graduate (yes, I know it is a little ambitious). I wish to learn both French and Arabic.
I am a beginner in both languages, never learning anything of either language. I would like to learn to speak, as well as read and write, at a conversationa l level in both.
I would like to learn French because I have heard it is a beautiful language to speak. It is also a popular language in the world and would allow me not only to communicate with people from Quebec, but people from around the world.
Arabi c I wish to learn because it is different from the usual Germanic or Romance languages usually spoken. I have an interest in the Middle East and would at some time like to travel there. Arabic has always strongly interested me as a choice for a second language.
I would be willing to dedicate 2 hours a week with my teacher, as well as studying assignments on my own.
I would like a teacher that has a flexible schedule, is relaxed and friendly with a casual teaching style.
