I am a beginner. I want to learn arabic because I married a lebanese man and I want to be able to speak to his family, as most of them do not speak english, and I also want to be able to teach my future children the language. The area I am most concerned with is, obviously, conversationa l skills. I want to dedicate 1-2 hours a week to my language lessons. The qualities I expect in an instructor are that he/she knows what they are doing and will help me learn quickly.

I'm a beginner to Cantonese although I have been surrounded with it all my life, I still don't understand the language. The reason I'm learning Cantonese is to help advance my career in the business field and to be able to speak with other Native speakers.
Nowadays I work full time on weekdays from 9:00AM to 5:00PM and half days on weekends. I want to have a minimum of 2 lessons per week with at least 2 hours per lesson. The qualities I'm looking for in my teacher or the lesson is that I hope it will be fun and an enjoyable learning experience. I like learning when teachers make it fun and I like it even more when my teacher helps me understand fully when I am confused.

I am interested in beginner level Mandarin. My short term goal in learning Mandarin is to prepare for a trip to China in summer/fall 2007 (several months), which will be spent mostly working although it will be parly vacation as well. I am willing to spend 6 hours a week learning Chinese.
