Proficiency level in both Hindi and Telegu - Beginner.
Why I wish to learn these languages - My wife's family speaks both languages and I would like to be able to communicate more effectively with them. As a K-12 librarian and an academic-libr arian-in-train ing, there is also the possibility that fluency in Hindi and Telegu will contribute to my career advancement.
Areas in which I need improvement - All.
Time I wish to dedicate to lessons - 1 to 2 hours a week for the lessons themselves. I expect to study/practic e five to ten hours a week.
Qual ities I'm looking for in teacher - I'm looking for someone who not only knows the language(s) I wish to learn but also knows how to teach them. I'm also looking for someone who will not only teach me how to converse and read the Hindi and Telegu scripts, but who also isn't afraid to delve into grammar lessons. As a former EFL teacher overseas and an English teacher in the States, I have a fairly good grasp of English grammar and learn foreign languages best when grammar is integrated into my lessons.

I have traveled to Russia, Yaroslavl Region twice. I have been in Moscow and St.Petersburg . Once, I worked in an Orphanage, childrens home for 12 days. I have friends in Uglich, in theYaroslavl region. I would like to travel again one day soon, and not worry about interpreters. I am familiar with the basics. I have learned words like, Hello! Thank you, please, good morning, good night, see you later. I would like to learn conversation. I would like to be able to get a taxi, or find a train. I would like to not get lost traveling in Moscow. It would be extremely important that I got a hotel room and that I can speak to cover my daily needs. I would like to feel safe in traveling alone and be able to express my self to my friends. I thought that it would be best to speak with a tutor/teacher about the time involved. I know this will be challenging but I really would like to do this work and learn 40 or more hours. I am flexible. I would be willing to speak and negotiate a time contract with a teacher. I would like to travel to meet the teacher, I live close to Mpls and St. Paul, Minnesota.Tha nk you.
