I am very much the beginner. I haven't ever taken any kind of Gaelic. I have taken both French and Spanish, but I don't know if this will help me learn Scottish Gaelic. I would like to learn Scottish Gaelic, because I want to at least visit Scotland. I am seriously considering moving to the Scotland Highlands. I need help in all areas of learning Gaelic. The amount of time I would like to dedicate to my lessons is two hours of studying a day seven days a week and at least one hour a lesson for three or four days a week. The qualities I am looking for in my teacher is someone who is patient and willing to talk to me in Gaelic in order to help me learn it better. I would like to have someone who has a great grasp on both languages. It doesn't matter to me if Gaelic is the primary language spoken by the teacher, as long as this person is able to speak just as well and fluently in English. I had a Spanish teacher who had no idea how to put Spanish words into English for us to understand what she was saying.

Our 16 year old son , who has studied Spanish, will be going to Brazil in 3 weeks for a 3 week visit with good friends who are natives, and who speak English as well. He needs to learn enough to get around in the airport to begin with, and then some conversationa l in order to spend time communicating with his good friend's friends who don't speak English. He's probably interested in knowing some slang as well- he is 16, after all...
