It is important to me that I know my mother toungue: Malayalam. I already know some Malayalam and can read and write as well as speak and understand a little bit. I need particular improvement in speaking and understanding Malayalam and learning to speak like a local in Kerala. I also feel my grammar and vocabulary needs to improve. I am currently staying in Kerala and plan to be here until November 2014. When people speak in Malayalam I find it difficult to catch everything they are saying.. I probably catch 20% and guess the rest. Even though I am in Kerala I am not living in a Malayalam speaking environment so my Malayalam is improving slowly only. I am hoping to learn as quickly as possible so I am willing to dedicate a few hours a week. I am looking for a teacher who is able to assess my current ability in speaking and understanding and help me improve quickly until I become fluent in the language. It would also be useful if the teacher can provide resources, audio as well as written, for lessons and homework. But the main priority for me now is improving my conversationa l skills.

I'm traveling to Madurai for a few months and I love the language. I want to be able to speak the language with the locals when I visit India. I am only a beginner and would like to work on my speaking and reading. A few hours a week would be ideal. I would like a teacher who can help me with my pronunciation of the language.
