I have traveled to Cambodia a couple of times and would very much like to learn beginers Khmer for basic interactions and social converstaion as I would like to return there for an extended period of time for either work or some form of extended stay. I find Khmer to be very beautiful and would like to learn it well enough to be able to get around and have everyday type conversations with people.
I am a fluent speaker of English, Italian and Spanish so I hope I have some proficiency at learning languages though I am sure that learning such a distant language will not be easy.

My wife is fluent in Khmer, but works full time and doesn't have the time or teaching skill to teach our two (ages 11 and 9) children. At this point they cannot speak any Khmer. I would like to get them into a lesson together, so they can practice through the week together and with their mother.

Hello. I am, and have been searching for Cambodian/Khm er language courses for months now. I have not found anything! I really need some help to find a class or instructor because I just had a baby and my husbands family is Cambodian. I cannot understand most everything they say. I understand a word here and there, but I am tired of making him translate for me, and so is he. I want my child to know her family's native language also, and if I don't I'm afraid she won't. I am very serious about this. I would like to use about 4 or 5 hours a week to learn. I don't want to be ripped off though. If the prices are too high, I am not interested. Please contact me. Hello, my name is Nichole and my children are cambodian. My daughtor, who is nine, has become very interested in her culture and would like to learn khmer. I would like all of us (there is three in my family) to learn khmer. I do know a very limited amount of khmer, but we are all beginers. I would like to learn to speak, read, and write khmer. We would prefer to have lessons in person, however over the Internet or Postal Service is also exceptable.
The best time for us to take lessons in person would be on Saturday's or Sunday's after church. It would be a bonus for us if the Teacher could teach my children about there culture also.
I know that learning a new language takes time, even years and I am willing to put in the effort. I feel it is important for my children to know there heritage and to be able to pass it on to there children.
