i would like to learn Thai to go and volunteer there.
I would like to do 1-2 hrs a week, and the duration, indefinate (i plan to go away in 16 months). I would like to know conversationa l Thai, if this is possible in this time.
I would like a teacher who is patient, but firm, as i can be a bit of a slacker!!!!

I lived and worked in thailand for about 4 years and can speak conversationa l Thai to a reasonable standard. I can also read and write and have a good grasp of the tonal system. I wish to improve my thai language as I plan to return to live in Thailand during the next year or so. I would like to improve my spoken thai, grammar, build vocabulary and improve my general fluency. As I work full time, I will be limited to studying only one or two hours a week, evenings or weekends. I would like the lessons to be well structured and challenging. Thanks, Derwen Gibson.
