I would like to learn italian to communicate with family in Italy. My parents are both fluent in the language and never taught me. Now that my dad has passed away I need to be able to communicate with my family. I know alot of nouns, verbs, and small phrases. What I really need is to conversate with someone and put together sentences.

Since my Wife and I are both of Italian heritage and have family in Italy, we would like to be able to converse more fluently in Italian. We both have taken college level Italian coarses in the past and have a good vocabulary base, yet we still have trouble understanding everyday conversationa l Italian. We would like to improve our understanding of Italian phrases and sayings that don't quite translate into English. We would also like to learn some of the more complex verb tenses (i.e. I would like, I was walking, We will go, etc.) and grow our vocabulary. We are basically seeking a tutor who can meetup at Startbucks for an hour or two once a week and chat in Italian. We are not looking for any serious curriculmn or textbook learning. Just someone who is patient enough to casually converse and work through any barriers that come up.

A number of years ago, I studied Russian and Spanish. Now I would like to get back to using those skills. I also want to learn Italian 'just because'.
Th ere was a time when my 'dream' was to read Dosteyevsky in Russian; now I just want to read some magazine articles. :)

1. I want to learn Italian because I have several collegues in Italy that I wish to communicate with more effectively.
2. My proficiency is beginner.
3. I am particularly concerned with conversation and grammar.
4. I would like to be very pro-active in my education. I would like to log atleast 200 hours of learning time.
5. I am looking for one-on-one lessons from a native Italian speaking tutor. I am looking for a tutor who has experience teaching native english speakers and has the educational background to help me become fully fluent in Italian.
