Hi my Name is Jeff Paget,
im from Sydney Australia and i am age 21, my mother is Filopino, and i wish to learn tagalog, so that i can communicate with her and my Lola, i have a good understanding of tagalog, but i wish to be fluent.
If it is possible, i am looking for a teacher, who is near Manila and i will be travelling to Philippines in the coming weeks, to learn and fluent my tagalog speaking and to become hopefully very fluent.

i am a beginner in filipino; my interest was sparked when i heard that much of it comes from spanish. I take spanish in school and i have for four years, so i don't know what i would be classified as (perhaps intermediate) and i love it and the culture - dance, songs, speakings it. It has become one of my greatest hobbies, and has sparked my interests in other languages that are like it (i.e. romance languages). Also i ahve taken filipino martial arts and my intructor is filipino i would like to relate to him better, but not offend him, i know that sometimes when gringos try to speak another language in front of a native they are offended. Another reason would be because i am a minority myself (black) i wish to reach out to others in general and all of those not just people with whom i share a language with. Basically, to learn how to write it wouldn't hurt, but mostly i want to speak it. I could dedicate as much time as it takes to get me up to speed, and as much as is required of me, i have never received less than an A in my four years of spanish, so evidently my zeal for learning foreign languages shouldn't be an issue. I would like my teacher to be down to earth; i am hoping for an informal learning atmosphere, but also one in which i feel driven to succeed. Thank you for your time in reading this and i hope that someone can help share the power of knowledge.
