I am beginner who really knows nothing about the Chinese language. My mother thought it would be helpful if I learned Chinese, because in the future we are planning to travel to China. I will need education in all aspects of Chinese. I can dedicated myself to hours and many sessions because i am only going to school 3 days a week. I would hope for an enthuthiastic teacher with a great deal of patience and personality.

I am looking for a tutor for my 9 year old son who is in the 3rd grade. He needs assistance with Mathematics, Language, Reading and Comprehension . I would also like for him to learn to speak a little chinese as my mother was chinese. He is currently in accelerated reading and math but I know he is capable of so much more. I am thinking of traveling to China sometime in 2006 and would like to learn the language to some degree before this trip. Above and beyond that I think it would be a good idea to learn this language due to China's growth and expected growth.
I do not know which, (Mandarin, Cantonese, etc) would be better to start with.
