I know the sounds of the Cyrillic alphabet, I am able to read very slowly words in Bulgarian and I am self taught.
I am caple of ordering drinks and most food in Bulgaria.
I can ask for directions but I do not think I would understand the reply. I have visited Bulgaria as a Tourist and have found both the country and people beautiful, hence why I will be going back to Bulgaria for the 3rd year running on the 3rd June to 18th June 2005. I have one week in Romania as my Travel companion wishes to visit that country in-between those dates. when I return,to Engalnd, I will have my first two hour Lesson 60 miles form where I live with a Bulgarian Teacher, I have to pay 21GBP per hour as well as the 120 miles of driving. This is very expensive But I am very serious about learning Bulgarian. I have booked a small hotel in Sofia From the 11th November 2005 for 2 weeks and would like to spend one of the weeks learning to speak Bulgarian I have a Return flight with British Airways booked For the November visit.
How do I practice:- I use a bulgarian learning website, I listern to www.bng.bg and the Bulgarian service from the BBC. How do I keep up to date with what is happening in Bulgaria:- I get the Sofia Morning News by e-mail every day. I have one book and two cassettes which I bought in Dobrich last year and one book and one Cassette that I bought here in Bicester. November for me is a working Educational break which I wish to utilise to it's full potential should I be able to achieve a good knowledge of practical Bulgarian this would lead me to doing a BA in Slavonic Studies which is my aim. I have always found I learn better with a Woman teacher as their diction is clearer than a man for my ear. I am looking for a teacher for my November trip but I would be interested in the period 13th to 17th June as a starter Lesson if Golden Sands is a possibility. or Varna as I can get an autobus into the City.

I have recently bought a property in Bulgaria. I am keen to develop a basic understanding of Bulgarian to allow basic conversation in shops, restaurants etc.
I work full time so am only able to have lessons in the evening. Ideally this would take place at my home (north london) for an hour or two maximum once a week.
