Asalamualaikum . Saya Jonathan dari England, tapi dah lama duduk kat Malaysia. I dah boleh cakap Bahasa Melayu, tapi berbual perbualanan biasa, conversationa l Malay. I nak belajar bahasa baku, tatabahasa, kosa kata, IGCSE, bahasa betul, sebab satu hari, I mahu menjadi cikgu bahasa Melayu untuk orang asing, mengajar Malay as a Foreign language (MFL). I pensyarah bahasa Inggeris di Uuniversiti, dengan buat kajian PhD tentang cara orang asign mengajar MFL. I faham tatabahasa, tapi terdapat banyak nuances, idiomatic speech, perbualan akademik. Walaupun I boleh bercakap, I tak boleh membaca buku ke surat khabar, dan tak pun boleh menulis surat kepada kerajaan. Satu hari dalam masa depan, saya mahu apply permanent residency, tapi satu criteria, saya kena fasih dalam BM. Saya tak berapa banyak masa sebab belajar PhD, tetapi saya serius tentang belajar BM, kalau saya boleh terima harga awak.

I would like to learn Bahasa Malay. We moved here a couple months ago and will be living here for three to five years. I have had no prior instruction, so I need to start at the very beginning.
