I am learning Nyanja because I spent 3 months in Zambia and a further 3 months with a group of Zambians in Hounslow, London. I really enjoyed learning bits of Tonga, Bemba and Nyanja, and want to learn more for when I return back to Zambia in October.
I am definitely still a beginner.
I am not so interested in learning the rules of grammar, or how to write words as such (although obviously that is important) - I am most interested in conversationa l, spoken Nyanja.
I would like to meet up for an hour or two a week after work in Islington for an informal chat so I can learn a few words each week.
I would quite like someone with a high proficiency of English for if I get stuck as I once tried to learn Chinese and found it really difficult as the teacher didn't speak much English!!! I mostly just want a friendly person to chat with and learn some Nyanja.

i am beginner of this launage im trying to learn this laungage for my girlfriend whos from malawi and speaks chichewa i like to learn for sevral reason the main being i plan to take my girlfriend on holiday to malawi where i whish to propose marige in her native tounge also i like to learn for my self and i try have conversation with some of her friends who speak very little english hope someone can help me or advise me where i can learn this and relevent books cdroms etc i would dedication as much time as i can also i no its hard but to be able speak write understand the basics would help although my main goal will be to learn as much as possible thxs u paul.
