I recently spent 4 months in Switzerland and i have been offered a job on the condition that i get my german skills fluent. Im currently a hotel managemant student t the swiss hotel school in Johannesburg and had 18months of german lessons from 2007-June of 2008. I feel that i understand a fair amount of german but i am not confident enough to speak and feel that the way i pronounce words and my sentance construction is not right. I am eager to get my german fluent.

I would like to freshen up my german conversationa l skills. I believe it would be helpful in my career as an actuary and computer programmer with a multi-nationa l company. I started taking german classes when I was in 6th grade and continued all the way through high school. I was taught Hochdeutsche Dialekte in school and then when I was a Junior in High School I learned some Schwäbisch when I lived with a family in Ravensburg in southern Germany. I was somewhat fluent at the time in basic conversationa l german. I also tested out of 8 credits at Drake University. Unfortunately I have not used it since. I can understand others if they speak slow enough, but I have a hard time remembering enough vocabulary to speak it myself. I have done some translation in both German and Dutch on the job, but it is time consuming and I need a dictionary to help get me through. I would like to become fluent again at the very least.
