I am a beginning to learn Hungarian after visiting Hungary for a week last summer. I made many friends and plan to return in Feb. and July this year with a possiblity of moving to Hungary by 2010. I need to start at the beginning since I only learned a few simple phrases last summer. I would like to meet 1-3 times a week for lessons and conversation or for a longer span of time on the weekend for just 1 day. For me, the best way to learn a lanugage is to use it in 'real' situations. I know that grammar and spelling are important and would like some things to work on in between meetings. For lessons, mock conversations and games where I would need to use the language in everyday situations would be good. I learned colors and numbers playing UNO while in Hungary. A cooking lesson, a trip to the grocery store, pretending to be at the airport, etc would all be helpful. I will be teaching English this summer so phrases that teachers use would also be helpful.

My desire to learn the Hungarian language comes from the fact that I am married to a Hungarian. I wish to speak the language very much to be able to communicate with my family. Currently, I know just a few words and if I know what the conversation is about, I can decipher the the whole conversation. My wife tells me that I can pronounce the words perfectly... almost without an accent. I believe this is because my primary language is Spanish and in my language, we say every word how it is spelled just like Hungarian. My intent is to become fully proficient in the language.
