I am registering for my daughter. She is a freshman in high school. She is learning Italian via Rosetta Stone through school. She is just finishing up her first year of Italian study. Her goal is to spend her junior year as an exchange student in Italy. She would like someone to have conversation with in order to improve those skills more quickly. As a parent, I envision one or two hours a week but I am open to suggestions. My daughter is a serious student, hard worker and quick learner. I would expect the teacher to be able to relate with a teen well, to show respect and be serious about helping her accomplish her goals.

I bought the 501 Italian Verbs book, because I already speak fluent Spanish at an extremely high level and since Italian and Spanis are so similar I decide I would teach myself, but I have no one to practice with or to judge my skill level. I would prefer to have a native teacher, who could help me learn some basic grammar, idiomatic dialect and allow me to speak Italian, at level comparable with my fluent Spanish. I would like to take maybe 2 1-3 hour lessons per month, at a price around $20-35, with some assigned materials so I can progress in a principally self-guided manner. At this point I would put myself in the novice level,with most of my skills coming from my knowledge of Spanish, and so I am not a complete beginner

I am planning a trip with my family to Florence, Rome and Venice. I do not speak Italian, but would love to learn and to be able to converse (albiet at a beginner level). I can dedicate several hours per week days. The qualities I look for in a teacher are as follows: patience; love of teaching; efficiency; organization; and making the instruction fun and interesting so as to enable one to learn the language more easily.
