I am beginner, have never spoken the language. I am planning to do a field placement in Bangkok through my Masters programme with school at a large non-profit agency. I would like to learn basic, conversationa l Thai. I am not sure how much time I will need to have a basic foundation to get by. I am looking for a teacher that has some experience, is patient and qualitifed to teach languages. I am planning to leave in August and probably would like to start taking lessons in May or June.

I lived in Chiang Mai for 9 months and took Thai while I was there, so when I left I had basic conversationa l skills. That was three years ago, so I want to improve my Thai abilities and use the language as much as possible so I don't forget the base I had.

I am interested in learning Thai. I have never spoken a word of it in my life, but my intentions are to take a trip to Thailand next and while I do not expect to be fluent in it I would like to attain some rudimentary knowledge of it.
I would like to at least spend 1 - 2 hours/week learning how to speak thai.
In my instructor I would like to find someone that has patience and is able to teaches thai in more of a casual feel since my intention is to know how to speak it in an everyday conversation.
