I have been interested in learning a second language for years. I've taken a semester of French and a semester of Latin and retained precisely ZERO of it, I can get by with a little Spanish but because I hear it so much it bores me.
I'd like to learn German for no other reason than it appeals to me. The sound and structure, I find it beautiful. ...and I've always wanted to read Thus Spake Zarathustra in its original format.
I have no background in German, I have some relatives in Washington State that speak German as a first language but I never picked any up.

Arabic:
I am learning Arabic because the language is beautiful, I love the sound and the writing is art! I'm also fascinated by middle eastern culture and history, and have visited Morocco and Egypt. In the future I would like to live and work in an arabic speaking country.
Proficiency : I have completed a year's course using the 'Mastering Arabic' series in MSA. So far I've learnt to use the future and past tense, and know basic conversation, as well as have a good grasp of the written alphabet.
I would like to spend at least 2 hours/week in class.
