I am interested in learning German because I am planning a trip there fall of 2010. I would like to be proficient enough in the language to get around town and hold basic conversation. I will be traveling to Germany this October and desire to have a better understanding of the language. I am a beginner in German. I would like to concentrate on proper pronunciation , basic grammar and simple conversations . I am only available in the evenings or weekends and plan to dedicate approximately 4-6 hours of time with an instructor per week, depending on class rates.

I am a college art teacher and visual artist who will be serving a residency in Germany within the next year or so. (I am applying to programs now.)
My interest in learning German and traveling to Germany stems from the growing art market there as well as my interest in German folklore studies. I teach a college painting class called 'Storytelling and Mythmaking,' in I bring up German folklore, artists and cultural customs repeatedly.
I am interested in at least 2-3 person group learning situations rather than private instruction.
