I have been studying the Russian language, on my own, for about 9 months. I would still say I am very much a beginner. I would like to improve on pronunciation , grammar and conversationa l Russian, especially everyday conversation topics one might use with children, e.g., 'You must share;' 'You must take turns;' 'I need you to listen and to obey'' 'It's time to get dressed for school;' etc., etc., etc. Plus, while I can communicate some things in Russian, I have great difficulty understanding spoken Russian, especially when spoken at the pace of a native Russian speaker.
I can devote up to one and half hours per day to learning the language. Ideally, I'd like to meet with a native Russian speaker an hour or two per week, and work on exercises outside of that time. I am dedicated, self-discipli ned and hold a Ph.D in an academic discipline.
