Proficiency is extremely minimal. I would like to learn Urdu in order to better relate to my Pakistani fiancé. Conversation is the area I would like to focus on the most. I am looking to spend multiple days a week working with the teacher and language. I am looking for a teacher who will be persistant in making sure I develop coherent speech as well as proper use of accents.

Though English is my native language, I grew up reading and speaking Urdu as a child. Unfortunately , I stopped around age 14, and have not spoken Urdu in decades. I can understand everyday Urdu, but I have trouble understanding sophisticated conversations (e.g., TV talk shows about politics). I also have a lot of trouble speaking fluently, and it takes me a long time to read a newspaper article, even with a dictionary. I'd like to become fluent in the language (both speaking and reading, but speaking is more important). I'd like to spend about an hour per week for in-person lessons in the NJ area (NYC is possible). What I'm looking for is someone with whom to practice conversation. I need a teacher who can put up with my terrible accent, and my sometimes hilarious grammatical confusions.
