I'm currently a student at ACC with the intent to transfer to UT. I am studing Spanish because I like it and I have always wanted to be bi-lingual. I have a fantasy of living in Spain one day. I have been studing Spanish for one year now, through an alternative Spanish class (Rapid Spanish) and now at ACC. I'm in Spanish 1. The problem with my current Spanish class is that we're not speaking in class. Which is just crazy to me. I don't understand how I'm supposed to learn a language doing workbook exercises. Not that they don't help, but it just seems that you need to do more. Half the class is completely confused and the teacher can't figure out why.
I would like to possibly do a couple of hours a week. I need help in all areas, but specificly hearing, understanding what I'm hearing and responding.
I want a teacher who knows their stuff. I had a tutor last year that when I would ask a question would always tell me it was too advanced for me. I found that completely frustrating. I want my questions answered. If I don't understand completely then I will work to get to the place where I understand. I want a teacher that actually w wants me to learn.

I'm a beginner, my partner and I would like to learn the language to enable us get by when we move to Spain in a few years time. It is our aim to run our own bar/restauran t so we would need to learn enough to cope with running our own business and living abroad full time.
1 hour of tuition a week should be sufficient at the moment. We are hoping for a structure lesson taking us from the basics through to the more complex situations.

I have taken years of spanish; however, I have not spoken the language in quite some time and I would like to re-learn the language.
