Am planning to learn one European language out of Spanish, German, French and Dutch. This is for dual purpose - for career advancement and also for getting myself comfortable with European environment.
As of now, I am totally new to these languages and would have to start from scratch. Am willing to dedicate weekends for the langauge lessons.
I would prefer these qualities for the teacher: language proficiency (preferably native language speaker), patience (teaching a language to a beginner student needs lot of patience), understanding (able to appreciate cultural differences and phonetics based differences).

My name is Darren. I am 14 turning 15 years of age. Recently I travelled to Switzerland with my family to visit my relatives. Seeing as I was brought up in Australia, my only language that I speak is English. While in Switzerland I found it very difficult to communicate with my foreign relatives. They only speak limited amounts of English.
Whi le there I realised I needed to learn the language if I was wanting to return in a few years time. I do know that the language between Swiss-German and German is a little bit different. My father told me it's just the dialect thats different but if i learnt German they would still be able to understand me in Switzerland. Im looking for clarification that if I do get tuiton from you learning German, that if i go to Switzerland i will be able to talk fluently to the people there.
If i do get tuition i will be a beginner with only knowledge of sayings such as 'hello, how are you' or 'thankyou very much'
