I am an intermediate student of Norwegian. For the past three years I have worked as director of music at Mindekirken in Minneapolis. The choral music, liturgy and hymns were all in Norwegian. I also studied a good deal of Norwegian art songs while doing my doctorate in voice performance at the University of Minnesota. Last summer, I received a Foreign Language Area Studies scholarship and studied Norwegian (Trinn II) at the Oslo International Summer School for 6 weeks. My reading is better than my speaking. I am fluent in German, having lived there for nine years (and my husband is German). I would like to continue improving my Norwegian so that I can do research on Norwegian music, and just because I enjoy it very much and would like to visit Norway again. In August I start a music teaching position at Hiram College, which is about 40 miles SE of Cleveland, and am looking for contact with Norwegian language in the area.
