I am currently totally deaf in my right ear and in the past 6 months I started loosing hearing in my left ear. I read lips but that is not always accurate. I would like to learn sign language in order to be able to communicate with those around me if my hearing should get worse. i would like to find some one who is willing to teach lessons in my home to me and a few of the people closest to me.

Hello! I am learning Japanese because I have high interest in the Japanese culture and I want to travel to the country of Japan. I have been study Japanese for about 10 years but is has been off and on learning on my own. I would say I am at an intermediate level of the Japanese language. I am very willing and determined to do whatever it takes to learn the language and highly dedicated. If possible, three days a week or more would be my ideal time for lessons. The qualities I am looking for in an instructor is a person of Japanese heritage and knowledgeable of proper Japanese and everyday common Japanese. I will settle for someone not Japanese but just would prefer one. I need improvement on vocabulary and conversationa l Japanese. Mostly the ability to understand someone else as he or she speaks the language.

I took four semesters of ASL taught by a late-deafened adult at the University of Missouri-Colu mbia, and two years have passed since. I need a tutor in the Kansas City Metro area for grammar, conversation/ fluency, and additional vocabulary-- in short, for all language areas. At least two hours per week of sessions, but more is desirable; ten hours is ideal. It is my goal to interpret; i prefer a tutor with certified interpreting experience.
