I would like to learn Filipino. I would like to immerse for a short time. I plan to retire eventually in the Philippines. I know i can get by in English, but I want to understand Philippine culture and lanquage as well. I plan to live in the south where they speak mostly Visayan, but I understand there is more of a push to embrace Filipino as the nation language.
I am at the beginner level. I consider my weaknesses in acquiring language skills as never having learned a second language, and the fact that where I am from in the southern United States, I tend to draw out my words. I was imagining that it word be best for me to learn some of the most important works common in both Spanish & Filipino and then build from there. I know pronouciation , vowel inflection and syllable recognitions are key for me. I may be plan to come to Philippines in November or December 08. Thanks
