I have been trying to teach myself and have a very basic knowledge of the alphabet and some simple sentences. I have been practicing writing as well as conversation. I also spend most evenings with several Arab speakers. But there are many different accents being spoken and the most of the speech is too fast. I am having trouble understanding the verb conjugations as well. I would like one lesson a week, at least for now. Maybe more later. I want to learn because I have many Arabic friends and I hope to visit the Middle East more than once in the future. I like learning languages and feel Arabic will be not only fun but useful. I need to be able to differentiate the letter sounds better and I need quite alot of visual examples as well as oral pracice.

I am a 18 year old Korean adoptee. It is my goal to learn my birth language. I am willing to devote all the time necessary to reach my goal of speaking Korean. I one day want to visit Seoul, So. Korea the city in which I was born. My adopted parents are very supportive of my dreams to learn Korean. I have spent time immersing myself in the Korean culture. I have been exposed me to the Korean culture throughout my life. I know some Korean words and spend time watching Korean movies. Thank you in advance for your consideration to be my tutor.

My proficiency level in Mandarin would be classified as beginner. I have taken 3 years in high school (I'm now 24), but much of my knowledge has been forgotten. I want to learn Mandarin because my grandmother only speaks Mandarin, and I am of Chinese descent. I feel as though not knowing Chinese has stunted my experience in connecting with my roots. Also, in my future career as a physician, I would like to be able to communicate with chinese patients in their native language.
The areas in which I need improvement would be vocabulary, conversation, and a little bit of grammar. I would like to start the lessons twice a week, within the next week, for at least a few months.
On e of the most important features I am looking for in a teacher would probably be flexibility in schedule, as my own schedule will be scattered after May, 2009.
