I know a few words but I am really a complete beginner. I want to learn conversationa l hebrew. I want to learn the language just beacause I have always wanted to learn it and I am hoping that I can use it when I return to Israel. I can dedicate about an hour a day to learning tha language. I am a pre-med student at UIC and I want to volunteer with the Magen David Adom summer program in Israel, hopefully in two years. However, I do not speak Hebrew or know any. Therefore, I would like to have private one-on-one sessions, at least once a week, with either a native Hebrew speaker or someone who has had intensive training since youth. I am a native English speaker who also speaks Polish. I am available anytime after 4pm Mon-Thur & Sun.

I can read and write hebrew fairly well, yet I have no real knowledge of grammar/conve rsation/meanin g. I just recently travelled throughout Israel, made several contacts, and am now interested in learning the language proficiently. I have always been skilled in picking up foreign languages... particularly romance languages.
I would like to dedicate about an hour or so a week.
I'm looking for a teacher that could provide me with an affordable, information rich lesson. I think in person would be best.
I am a student at Parsons in the city, so I don't have a lot of money, but I am very enthusiastic about learning.
