I am of Italian decent. I grew up in Boston, MA, USA in an Italian neighborhood. Both my father and mother have died, and my sisters do not speak Italian. I am missing my Italian heritage, losing my Italian connection, having a hard time connecting with my children the Italian culture, and my family (cousins and aunts) are get older. I would like very much to re-kindle my Italian and visit Italy and find my relatives, my family.....

Ciao.
2016 will be the last year of my career employment in the US.
I would like to devote time each day (1 Hour) from now through 2016 to learning Italian and visit Italy for several months in 2017. I am working my way through Duolingo to acquire basic vocabulary.
All my grandparents came from Italy and Italian was their native language. My parents ability with Italian was limited and my generation did not learn it at home. However, we were exposed to it through relatives. I took 2 years in college (see Father Guido Sarducci 5 minute university). Anyway, as I enter this next phase of life I would like to devote some time to rediscovering the land my heritage left behind. My simple plan is to gather as much knowledge of Italian as I can and then travel to Italy and immerse myself in the culture. My thought is that the right teacher could greatly improve my direction and focus and assist in a better plan. They might act as a mentor, a guide and a sounding board. I should say, despite my years, I remain youthful in outlook and anticipation( ie. behind the curve). Thank you.
