I am a beginner in the Slovak language, and know only a few words and phrases.
I have a friend in Slovakia and would like to be able to converse with him in his native language, plus I hope to travel in Central Europe some day.
I need lessons in all areas of the language, but am particularly interested in conversaional and coloquial Slovak.
I could devote 3-5 hours per week for lessons, plus more time for homework & practice.
I am looking for a teacher who is fluent in both English and Slavic languages, has a sense of humor, is patient with beginners, but will require hard work.

Proficiency level: beginner
R eason: I am generally interested in Japanese culture. Also, I study jodo and iaido, and some of the high-ranking sensei who teach at seminars are visiting from Japan and speak no English.
N eed improvement in: primarily conversation, secondarily reading and writing.
T ime to dedicate: 1-2 hours per week. Sunday afternoons are best, since my dojo is in Baltimore (Catonsville) .
Qualities looking for: Does not have to be native speaker of Japanese, but does have to be expert educator. I would prefer to meet at a location in Baltimore.

My spanish proficiency level is slightly above beginner. I studied with Berlitz 1-2 days per week for about 1 year. I would like to become conversationa l in Spanish to be able to work in Mexico as a pharmaceutica l / medical device company consultant.
I travel throughout most weeks (M-F), so I am only available to meet on weekends, preferably Saturdays.
In addition to Durham study, I am also available to work with a tutor in Ponce, PR, as I will be working in that area at least through the end of February.
