I would am searching for someone who is willing to spend some time to teach me Hungarian. I would like to learn Hungarian because my boyfriend lives in Budapest and neither of his parents speak English. I am also researching attending college/unive rsity in Hungary, and taking Hungarian language lessons there as well, but I would like to establish some sort of basis with the language. I have a very limited knowledge of the language, mostly useless things, from spending some time living with his family in Budapest and speaking to some of his friends. I would like to spend about two hours a week just developing a basic knowledge of vocabulary and grammar, which I understand is very difficult. Anyone nearby who speaks the language and is willing to put in the time to teach me would be highly appreciated. Thank you!

I'm a beginner in Hungarian. My native tongue is German, but I lived for about 7 years in the U.S.
I want to learn Hungarian for career advancement as well as for personal satisfaction. I'm half Hungarian and unfortunately my parents did not teach me Hungarian do to thinking it would confuse me. Nevertheless, I will be a mother soon myself and I would like to pass on my heritage including the language.
I would prefer a live in tutor since I believe the fastest way to learn a foreign language is to imerge in it 24/7. In addition, I would like for the tutor to be a native speaking Hungarian.

Well being the first generation in the states, I feel like I got ripped off when my family did not allow me to learn hungarian as a kid..I plan to go back to hungary and visit some family I have not seen in many years. They do not speak english too well and I do not speak hungarian at all. I wish to speak with my grandmother soon in her language. In a teacher I am looking for someone with a well established command of the language constructions , and is willing to be helpful in the learning process. I wish to learn conversationa l, aswell as formal syntax.

Hi I'm Andrew Keszthelyi and I wish to learn Hungarian because not only is that who I am, But because I love the language, and I have family that's speaks Hungarian + English but there are some even in Hungary that doesn't speak English. I wish to learn to broaden my horizon. I also wish to be able to go to Hungary with ease to see family (as mentioned above) and to maybe live there one day, but most of all I wish to be able to make new friends there. I wish to use all the time I need until my teacher feels I'm good enough in Hungarian, I wish for my teacher to help me understand the problem I have in Hungarian, I am a beginner with little knowledge. I hope he/she is very open and helpful and is willing to be patient and help as best as he/she can. I am a quick learner and will give no problems, I love languages and Hungarian is my main Priority. Hello! (Actually, Bonjour! I see you also speak French!!) Well, where do I start? I won't give you my whole life's history until later...but suffice it to say, my husband and I have a marketing company in Portland, a software development company in Bucharest, and are opening our headquarters and sales department in Budapest as we speak. Actually, he is in Budapest as I type getting the office all set up. And, from what he tells me, NO ONE there speaks english. So, we have discussed meeting there in November for me to check it out (he say's it's absolutely Gorgeous) I would like to be able to understand a little bit by then, and then continue on, since that is where our HQ are going to be. He will be living there a month at a time for a while, and we may just move out there to be with him...dependi ng on how much I like it in November and how comfortable I feel bringing our brood of babies over there (Rachel-4, Hanna-2.5, Abby-8mos) Nonetheless, I will need to learn the language, and this seems like a better approach than just online learning from a college. It seems much more personalized. ..
