I wish to learn Somali for reasons of both professional advancement and to assist in volunteer social services to immigrants from Somalia. My proficiency level is absolute beginner! Therefore, there are no areas in which I do not need improvement! Ideally, I would dedicate two to six hours per week to this education, depending on cost and location. I used to when I was younger and seemed to have lost some of my skills being born in America and not being able to speak it consistently. My name is Rosetta and I am looking for a well trained, experienced teacher of Somali language offering courses in New York City during summer time: June through August 2008.
I would start with a High Elementary (or Low Intermediate) level and am particularly interested in developing grammar and conversation skills. I am interested in studying Somali for career advancement.
I plan to devote to the course about three hours per week. A course involving a small group of extremely devoted students would be ideal, but I'm also open to teacher-stude nt private lessons. The ideal teacher should be able to allow me to manage the spoken language and grammar knowledge at the elementary/in termediate level after three months.
