I would like to learn Hungarian because my family on my mom's side lives in Budapest and I would like to go visit them in January 2011. Also my boyfriend is from Slovakia and his family including him are fluent in Hungarian so I would like to be able to communicate with them in Hungarian. My proficiency level is beginnger. The areas in which I feel I need to concentrate on are conversation. I would want to dedicate at least 3 days a week to learning Hungarian. The qualities I am looking for in my teacher is paitence and a passion for teaching Hungarian. I would like the lessons to be effiecent and fun.

I am looking to speak fluent Hungarian in both formal and informal versions. I have been studying the basics (beginner level) a little in reading, writing and speaking, but I can't get very far on my own. I wish to learn because my boyfriend is Hungarian and I want to surprise him with my new found understanding without his help.
I would like either a small class/group or personal lessons depending on the price and how often the lessons are. I would like to have at least 1-2 lessons a week for an affordable price from a teacher who is very equipped with teaching skills of the hungarian language. Meeting in Toronto or GTA is best.

I am very interested in developing my Magyarul because my nagyapa is the last one of the family in Canada to speak it and I would like to keep it in the family to one day pass on to my children. Also, I have a great interest in traveling to Hungary to trace my roots, and meet family members that I have only seen in photos (and who don't know any English).
Currently , I only have some rudimentary knowledge (basic words, phrases etc. that I have gotten from books and CDs), but I want to become more fluent in conversationa l Magyarul so that I may converse properly and at a normal rate. I am able to pick up some words and concepts when I hear others speaking, but cannot yet respond or form complex sentences.
I am looking to take lessons in a one-on-one or possibly small (3-4 people) class, about once a week at this point. Money is an issue right now, so I cannot afford more frequent lessons. I want to learn from other people whose mother tongue is Hungarian, and who can focus my learning on conversation and reading skills.

I am looking to take Hungarian with my 11 year old daughter. I was raised to speak Hungarian as my first language, but once I started school, we only spoke English. My daughter want's to learn her heritage language and want's to be able to communicate with me conversationa lly. I would say I am probably above beginner level, my daughter is beginner.
