I understand Tagalog quite well, but need to practice speaking. I will speak when spoken to, but I tend to mix it with English. I need help with grammar and confidence.
I would like an open minded teacher who will encourage me to speak.
I would like to start off with small/short lessons, perhaps over the telephone for 1/2 hour per week or so (I cannot devote much time to lessons because of my business). I'm open to suggestions though on a format for learning.

I started learning Mandarin in 4th grade while living in Hong Kong. I lived in Hong Kong for 2-1/2 years. I then moved to California and, unfortunately , was not able to continue my studies there. My family moved to Minnesota last year and as a freshman in high school, I was able to learn Mandarin as an Independent Study using the Homeschool version of Rosetta Stone. Given the complexity of the language, I prefer to have a teacher/tutor for in-person feedback/corr ection, etc. so we are now looking for a different curriculum and teacher/tutor . I must report assessment results to my high school in order for this to be considered a legitimate independent study.

Hello,
We wish to learn Hawaiian because we are planning to move to Hawai'i. We do not know the Hawaiian language. We would like to become fluent in reading, writing, listening and speaking, with prioritizatio n of the latter two skill sets. We plan to continue study in some form or another until we reach fluency, and beyond. Our house is for sale - when we move, we will likely have to change venue and teacher. We hope that our teacher will help us understand not only the language, but the context and culture; the world picture engendered by the language. A plus for our teacher would be that they are a native Hawaiian speaker from the big island so that our dialect will match the area in which we plan to relocate.
We have scheduling and travel constrictions and will need to match time and place as possible.
